Produced by Kevin Augunas (Cold War Kids, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes), Outlaw for a Year is an infectious album. It’s Ticket to Ride-era Beatles played by the Velvet Underground and filtered through Otis Redding. It’s genuine. Recorded over the course of eight days and nights with the help of acclaimed musician Richard Swift at his National Freedom studio, the songs are a warm, moody, and melodic collection. It just goes to show you what you can achieve with a few reels of tape, a couple of beat-up guitars, and a makeshift drum kit that includes a hand-me-down kick drum from the local high school band.
